  • Tromsö's most expensive apartment

Hello! This is my first post here. Have been using VRAY advanced for about a year now, but still troubling with getting optimal results. Espescially on outdoor renderings.
Anyway - love VRAY. Amazed and inspired by the renderings on this site!!!

Images are from a project we did this spring, and although I'm almost never satisfied with the result it worked fine for our client who sold this particular apartment for 1,78 million $ or 11,5 mill NOK (in Norwegian currency), just based on the images we made... Our outcome was quite small in comparison... Hope the pics shows!? CC welcome

very nice renders. You'll only get better as time goes on. I would like to see more localized accent lighting in your renders. In the first renders, the black windows make the interior space look pretty forboding. In the interiors, maybe some local lights to help accentuate the space, like above the counters and range.

Yes - I'd say you got the vray down. Now just need to work on your modeling and lighting.

Check out the book "Essential CG Lighting Techniques".

Nice to see some Norwegians in here

          I like your renderings!

          A few comments:
The vertical lines are very noisy. If you turn off the random option in your Anti Aliasing this noise will go away.
Also I find the "self illuminated" buildings in the first image a bit distracting.

Thank you for comments and tips. And "meanadam" thnx for book - tip, will certainly check that out

By the way: Always struggling with getting the right glass/window expression on exterior renderings. Anyone have a material setting that works?
Currently I'm using the egz Vrayglass for windows...

For glass I usually disconnect the refraction and reflection ior's. refraction set to 1.5-1.6 for reflection I cheat it up to 2 - 2.5. Then to get a little more pop a output map at 1.25 to 1.5+ in the reflection amount slot.

RErender's suggestion is very good. You might also want to set the windows to invisible to GI (VRay properties) to get more light into the appartments.

egzVRayGlass is best for glass objects, glasses etc. Not really ideal for windows. I'm working on egzVRayArchGlass now (finally needed it myself ) which will give you a lot more ArchViz specific controls. Not done yet though, ETA in a few weeks once I get past the current deadline.

good to hear you are working on an architectural glass.
Keep me posted with the progress, i will be happy to be beta tester of this

I definitely appreciate Rerenders glass tips - I haven't really heard the output suggestion before. Plus EGZ's turning off invisible is something I would have never thought of. Those are invaluable lessons.

Finally egz? Youre making us curious! :P
